The Lockheed F-117 Nighthawk is a retired American single-seat, twin-engine stealth attack aircraft that was developed by Lockheed's secretive Skunk Works division and operated by the United States Air Force (USAF). It was the first operational aircraft to be designed around stealth technology. The F-117 was based on the Have Blue technology demonstrator. The Nighthawk's maiden flight took place in 1981 at Groom Lake, Nevada, and the aircraft achieved initial operating capability status in 1983. The aircraft was shrouded in secrecy until it was revealed to the public in 1988. Of the 64 F-117s built, 59 were production versions, with the other five being prototypes. Rumored to be currently retired, F-117A sightings are fairly common among plane spotters on the west coast of the United States. This image depicts two Israeli F-117Is refueling from a KC-10 Extender over Israel.
Hello, my name is Al Clark. I've been an artist for more than 45 years, and a licensed pilot for more than 38 years, enjoying both aircraft and airport ownership. I've been a published digital artist since before the first iteration of Photoshop. I am currently an internationally published military aviation illustrator and photographer. There's probably not much I can't tackle digitally, and my "every project goal" is to come as close to digital perfection as possible on both the individual pixel editing level and on the gambit of color interpretation scales. Please contact me if you are looking for somebody who truly knows what he's doing in the digital image world. If you don't see it on here, I will create it for you.
